Solstice Angels

Inspired by 17th century Flemish tapestries hanging in the beautiful church at Thaxted, I turned the maidens in this into angels who are hanging leaves in the sky like fairy lights with the help of all seeing plants, a magical magpie and a UFO . It celebrates ancient traditions, the turning of the wheel and the sun returning to warm the land. I chose ink colours referencing the medieval wall hangings.
This print was carved into two separate tetrapak plates and inked a la poupee.
This is a one of one signed monotype print made at Curwen Print Study Centre.

Dimensions unframed 46.2cm x 37.7cm.
On cream Southbank paper 310 gsm paper.

(I also have available a framed version of this print with the angels reversed so the UFO is on the right which has shimmer watercolour hand touching so the UFO is on the right)
