Zen Ink Painting

This evening, as you soak up the atmosphere of the 14th Century Old Sun Inn, Saffron Walden, Jessica will introduce you to ZEN INK PAINTING.

Monochrome ink painting has a history originating in ancient China and is associated with Zen Buddhism which emphasises 'simplicity, spontaneity and self-expression'. The unique properties of ink as a medium are really fun to work with as the ink interacts with water in unpredictable dynamic swirls, and under guidance from Jessica, you will create your own beautiful figurative or abstract ink paintings.
Learn to create traditional bamboo stems and cherry blossom with dry brush techniques, and how to use the unique qualities of ink in water to watch more abstract forms emerge.

All materials and equipment provided. Soft drinks are provided.
We will be using inks, so bring an apron or painting shirt to protect your clothing.
*The Old Sun Inn on Church St, Saffron Walden is a medieval building with uneven floor levels and a stepped entrance, do let me know if you have any access issues.
Some parking is available in the market square, or the Common Car park or Swan Meadow carpark are a few minutes walk away.
